This week I have been inspired by a beautifully provocative film called Handprint by director Mary Nighy and producers White Lodge. I know it came out last year but it still has the power to get across a very powerful message.
The message may be simple in itself but the use for movement, space, and calm are superbly put together to illustrate the disparity between the individual wearing the clothes and the group of people involved in the creation of the same clothes. It brought me back to our Ethically Clothed mantra: “People see what you wear, what would they say if they saw where it came from?”. There are some lovely artistic touches in the video, such as the sound of a sewing machine as a zip is pulled up. The sheer level of skill and care required to make a truly beautiful item of clothing also comes across.
Have a watch and let me know what you think.
